Kristen Shahverdian (she/her) is a teacher, writer and former dancer. She holds an MA in Socially Engaged Art from Moore College of Art & Design, an MFA from Temple University in dance, and a BA from Hamilton College in history and dance. Her research is focused on how we witness performances and visual depictions of trauma, violence, and disease. She is co-creator of an on-going workshop on trigger warnings in art and serves as a senior lecturer at University of the Arts. She has a 16-year practice at a private studio in Philadelphia, PA, teaching Pilates and body mechanics to reduce pain.
