Carolyn Merritt

Carolyn holds a PhD in anthropology from Temple University and a BA in French and Spanish from Trinity College (CT), and she is currently Lecturer in Anthropology at Bryn Mawr College. Carolyn has a long background in ballet and modern dance, and she became hooked when she discovered Argentine tango in 2002.  Her love of tango brought her to Argentina several times, culminating in a two-year stint in Buenos Aires from 2005-7, and her first book, Tango Nuevo (University Press of Florida, 2012), part memoir and part ethnographic study of contemporary tango.  Carolyn is also a dessert fiend and amateur baker.  You can find her desserts each Wednesday at the Philadelphia Argentine Tango School práctica.
